UNM (Ung Nordisk Musikk) er en organisasjon som består av land fra Norden og de baltiske landene, vår hovedoppgave er å promotere verk av unge komponister og lydkunstnere gjennom en årlig festival. Festivalen ble grunnlagt i 1946 og har siden vært en møteplass for skapere under 31, et sted man kan møtes for å utveksle tanker, musikalske ideer og danne nye vennskap på tvers av Nord-Europa.

Fem verk fra hvert av de nordiske landene (Sverige, Norge, Danmark, Finland og Island), og to verk fra hvert av de baltiske landene (Estland, Latvia og Litauen) vil bli valgt til festivalen i 2026. Utvelgelsen av verk blir gjennomført av uavhengige juryer fra de respektive landene.

Årets tema er ARCHIVE valgt i forbindelse med UNM sitt 80 års jubileum. Festivalen vil sette fokus på UNMs fortid og fremtid ved å vise fram dine favorittverk fra ditt eget komposisjonsarkiv. I løpet av festivalåret 2026 vil vi ha som mål å tilrettelegge for dramaturgiske verk. For å oppnå dette vil vi samarbeide med Scenatet.

Vi vil også tilby et residensprogram og invitere til en UNM-konferanse i løpet av festivalen. Vi oppfordrer alle interesserte til å delta uavhengig av rase, religion, kjønn, bakgrunn, utdanning eller kunstnerisk stil.

Festivalen vil gjøre sitt beste for å tilby lokaler og foredrag som er tilgjengelige for alle, inkludert individer med funksjonsnedsettelse.

UNM kan tilrettelegge for alle typer arbeid slik som lydkunst, elektronikk/elektroakustikk, kammerverk, vokalverk, installasjon og mer. 



UNM residens 2026
Vi er veldig glade for å annonsere at residensprogrammet i 2026 vil bli gjennomført i samarbeid med ensemble NEKO30.

NEKO30 er en Københavnbasert eksperimentell trio bestående av pianist/utøver Fei Nie, perkusjonist/utøver Lorenzo Colombo og prekusjonist/utøver Kalle Hakosalo.

Fra hvert av de nordiske landene vil en komponist bli valgt ut, mens en komponist vil bli valgt fra de baltiske landene samlet gjennom separate open calls for residensprogrammet. Det vil bli gjennomført workshops med utvalgte verk i København sammen med komponistene, ensemblet og mentorene Jeppe Just Christensen og Søs Gunver Rydberg. Workshopene vil bli gjennomført fra 26. - 30. Mai 2026, og blir fremført som del av festivalprogrammet i august 2026.

UNM-konferanse 2026
I forbindelse med UNM sitt 80 års jubileum inviterer vi til en UNM-konferanse. Formålet med konferansen er å tilby en “karrierepakke” til unge skapere, som består av ulike foredrag og workshops med spesielt inviterte gjester fra musikkfeltet. Konferansen blir avholdt fra 11.-15. august. Aktuelle temaer i løpet av konferansen:

  • Kulturstøtte

  • Startup union

  • Musikkpublisering og notskrift

  • Elektronikk/elektroakustikk

Størstedelen av festivalen vil bli avholdt i sentrum av København. Festivalen samarbeider med det kongelige danske musikkonservatorium, her vil flere konserter bli avholdt. Det betyr at vi kan tilrettelegge for 3D-verk for opptil 48 høyttalere. Vi har også et utendørslokale tilgjengelig. Andre lokaler inkluderer KoncertKirken, Literaturhaus med mer.


Vilkår og betingelser

  1. Søkeren må være født 01.01.1995 eller senere. Det kan gjøres unntak hvis søkeren er student ved et bachelorstudie som er relatert til lydkunst og/eller komposisjon. Søkeren må være norsk statsborger eller bosatt i Norge.

  2. Alle søknader må være anonyme og må være markert med et pseudonym. Pseudonymet bestemmer søkeren selv. Alle innsendte filer (partitur, opptak eller annet relatert til stykkene) må være markert med det valgte pseudonymet. Sjekk at alle fulle navn, dedikasjoner eller informasjon om utøvere er fjernet fra filene.

  3. Søkeres personlige informasjon, vil bli beholdt av UNM-styret i to år fra det tidspunktet søknaden blir sendt inn. Grunnen er at når man søker UNM, blir man medlem av UNM i to år. Vi trenger informasjonen for å kunne invitere til generalforsamling som blir avholdt hver vår.

  4. Vi ber om at materialer som noter, tekst, lydfiler og video blir lastet opp i en mappe på enten Google Drive eller Dropbox. Linken til den gjeldende mappen må være tilgjengelig til 01.09.2024. Husk å fjerne all metadata eller informasjon som kan ødelegge anonymiteten din for juryen.

  5. Søkere kan kun delta på maks fem UNM-festivaler hver, uavhengig av hvilket land de har representert. Hver søker kan kun søke som representant for et land hvert år. Hvis man søker for flere land vil søknaden bli diskvalifisert.

  6. Utvelgelsen vil bli gjennomført av en jury bestående av profesjonelle, norske kunstnere. Det kan bli gjort endringer blant de utvalgte verk grunnet kjønnskvotering. UNM Norge har et uttalt mål om at det skal være lik balanse mellom kjønnene representert på programmet.

  7. Hver søker kan sende inn maks to verk hver.

  8. Fem verk vil bli valgt ut fra hvert av disse landene: Norge, Sverige, Danmark, Finland og Island. Et verk fra hvert av disse landene vil bli valgt ut: Estland, Latvia og Litauen.

  9. Det er ingen kriterier eller krav om ensemblestørrelse eller stil. UNM Danmark forplikter seg til å gjennomføre en konsert eller utstilling med alle valgte verk.

UNM (Ung Nordisk Musik) is a joint organization spanning the Nordic and Baltic countries, whose mission is to promote the work of young music makers and sound artists by producing a yearly festival. Founded in 1946, making it one of the oldest festivals of its kind, UNM has been a meeting place for creators under the age of 31 to exchange thoughts, musical ideas and establish new connections with others from across Northern Europe.

Five works from each Nordic country (Sweden, Norway, Denmark, Finland and Iceland), and two works from each of the Baltics (Estonia, Latvia and Lithuania) will be selected in this year’s call for works. The selection of works is made by independent juries representing each participating country.

For the 80th anniversary with the theme ARCHIVE, the festival will be focusing on the past and future of UNM by showcasing your favourite works from your compositional archive. During the festival year in 2026 we aim to be able to accommodate dramaturgical works. For this we will co-produce the works with Scenatet.

We will also offer a residency program and invite to a UNM conference during the festival. We encourage all those interested to apply regardless of race, religion, gender, background, education, or artistic style.

For the festival we aim to make sure, to the extent of our abilities, that the venues and lectures being accessible for everyone including individuals with disabilities.

UNM can accommodate all kinds of works such as; sound art, electronic/electroacoustic, chamber to larger settings, vocal, installations and more.


UNM Residency 2026
For the 2026 festival we are very excited to announce a residency collaboration with the ensemble NEKO3.

NEKO3 is a Copenhagen-based experimental trio consisting of pianist/performer Fei Nie and two percussionists/performers Lorenzo Colombo and Kalle Hakosalo.  More info: https://www.neko3cph.com/events/

From each country one composer will be selected for the residency program and one combined from the Baltic countries through the separate open call for the residency.

Selected works will be workshopped in Copenhagen with the composers, ensemble members and mentors Jeppe Just Christensen and Søs Gunver Ryberg during the 26th to 30th of May 2026 and showcased as a part of the festival program in August 2026.

UNM Conference 2026
As a part of UNM 80th anniversary celebration we are presenting a UNM Conference— as a “career package” for young music creators that consists of a series of lectures and workshops. Between 11 - 15 August we invite different guests from across the music industry who will be talking about:

Most of the festival will take place in the heart of Copenhagen. We have The Royal Danish Academy of Music as a collaborator. Several concerts will take place there, where we can also accommodate 3D works for up to 48 loudspeakers. We also have an outdoor venue. Other venues include KoncertKirken, Literaturhaus and more.


Terms & Conditions

  1. Applicants shall be born on January 1st, 1994 or later. An exception to the age requirement is made if the applicant is studying at the bachelor level in a program related to sound art and/or composition. Applicants must be a Norwegian citizen or residing in Norway.

  2. All applications must be anonymous and must be marked by a pseudonym of the applicant’s choice. Files (i.e. scores, recordings and other descriptive texts of the work) must be marked by the chosen pseudonym. Please ensure that all full names, dedications and performer information are erased from all scores, media, metadata, etc.

  3. Applicants personal information will be kept by the board of UNM Norway for up to two years, and may be requested to be deleted by the applicant at any point after the results are announced. By default, applicants will become associate members of UNM Norway for two years at the point an application is submitted; this simply entails the annual invitation to the general meeting held every spring by the UNM Norway board.

  4. We ask that materials such as scores, texts, sound files and video files to be uploaded on either Google Drive or Dropbox platforms. The links to the materials must remain valid until the evaluation period is over (i.e. August 2021). Please remember to remove all metadata or information which may reveal your identity to the jurors.

  5. Applicants may participate up to a total of five UNM festivals regardless of which country they participate with. If an applicant is eligible for applying in more than one country, they are only permitted to apply for one country, otherwise both applications will be disqualified.

  6. The selection of works made by the jury of professional Norwegian artists will be altered according to gender quotas if necessary. As of 2021, the gender quota for UNM Norway is designed to reflect the proportion of non-male identifying applicants to male identifying applicants.      

  7. Each applicant may send a total of 2 works.

  8. A total of 5 works will be selected from each of these countries: Denmark, Finland, Norway, Iceland and Sweden. A total of 1 piece will be selected from each of these countries: Estonia, Latvia and Lithuania.

  9. There are no criteria for ensemble size and/or stylistic requirements. UNM Finland commits to producing a performance or exhibition of all selected works, however, here we provide more information on next year’s specific festival ensembles
